Most local appliance stores have a "scratch & dent" section. These are usually display models
or appliances that are cosmetically rejected by the consumer. We picked up a brand new GE dishwasher for $169 that had been a display model. The list price at that time was $429.We loaded it in the trunk and installed it ourselves saving an additional $60. It came with full warrenty.

Current situation: Windows Vista coming out at end of '06, Pentium's next model around the same time, DDR3 a few months after, 512 Graphics Cards and 4096 RAM are out, and many software upgrades means 256 RAM will soon be not unlike 16 RAM, or in other words, USELESS. Do what I am doing now, save up some money, and wait for next year's new rush of upgrade, hoping that Microsoft will finaly be able to say asta la "Vista," 98. Yes, you can buy a laptop, but it will become outdated fast.

go online to home depot, lowes, or sears and check out the prices on the dishwasher. They also list clearance items there. I found what I wanted and went to Sears and requested the item and they delivered to their store. This saved me the delivery cost.

Many of your local appliance stores have rebuilt dishwashers with pretty good warranties. Check into them.
