His word was known to be law. I guess he should have been left alone because many people would have been alive today under his rule that are now dead under American confusion.
Under Saddam they had education for men and women they had healthcare and if you followed the law you didn't need to fear anything.
So how do we know that Saddam was an evil dictator that tortured and killed all those people? Well we were told this by the same people who told us there was WMD inside Iraq and that Iraq was a breeding ground for terrorists. Oh wait those were lies.
Remember during the first Iraq war when that young girl stood in front of a congressional committee and with tears in her eyes told of how she witnessed the evil Iraqis pulling out newborn babies form their incubators and throwing them on the floor of the hospital in Kuwait city? Remember how this was one of the reasons to convince the people a war was need against Iraq? Remember when she turned out to be the daughter of Kuwait's ambassador to the United States and hadn't even been out of the United States the whole time and must have had really good eyesight to see Iraqis in Kuwait from New York City? So where is this information of terror come from, the Sunnis or the Shiite opposition that wanted him out? No doubt he wasn't a boy scout, but are we supposed to believe it all after the lies and manipulation we’ve been subjected to?

Saddam used terror tactics by killing innocents, making other fear, the US is a bit too mericful and also with the fact that it seems like the US wants to take over Iraq and them being sick of it and feeling the pressure to change to a different leader and goverment that they aren't afraid of, they hate it. Rally I think they are actually afraid of the US changing their "traditional" ways or the way of life that they are famliar with and switching it to a different one. They were used to Saddam's terror ruling, since some Arabs terrorized people (such as Israelites) and they feel Saddam is a big influence. Iraq also has some Sunnis as well, so they feel Saddam is their hero/supporter, even if he kills anyone in the way to get power

Anyone maintain order Iraq if they voted by majority citizen of Iraq and recognized as a President or Leader. Even Saddam or Bush did not maintain order Iraq during his term. Anyone who governs the country can not maintain it if there are people opposing the government. Apply democracy, where citizen of the country have full freedom and let them abundant of all their needs....for sure... it will be peace and order.

Whoever you are, you evidently haven't lived in terror and sit somewhere in a completely safe sound environment spewing your bs on this contraption. I read a book of an Iraqi woman who had met Saddam several times, wrote technical literature for his state propaganda, but when some dude in her area handed out anti-Saddam literature, they imprisoned EVERYONE within a 10 block radius and cruelly punished all with whippings, burnings, starvation, etc. and she wasn't allowed to contact anyone at her home...just nabbed and disappeared for months until bribes could be paid to have her released. Now if you can compare that to anything George W Bush has done feel free to prove it. These wonderful people in Iraq, given a chance to forget that kind of fear of torture and despicable action by a tyrant, will become as strong a nation as the UAE has become.

Well, pretty simple. Over there it was "be nice or die". US does
not have that mindset (thank goodness). Which, by the
way, is the reason we will never be "victorious" over there
- whatever that means. What we expect in Iraq is based on
what we expect in the U.S. We cannot change the cultural
mindset of a people that has existed hundreds of years. We need to get out of there...shouldn't have stayed in the first place.

because all in arab history iraq has had conflicts because many different groups called that place home, it took a strong harsh leader like saddam to be able to control all the fighting and make it stop. and unless iraq gets another dictator, the whole population will die out

Saddam ruled by fear. The insurgents know the new government is based on american ideas and one of those ideas is that we do not abuse our citizens and use scare tactics to get things done(yeah right!). I say let the iraqi's form their own government without our help. Now that the bad guy is gone they sure seem to want to get us outta there. Get our kids home where they belong.

Good try... but be a little realistic and don't present something as melodramatic as what you are proposing. If that is what you really believe, why don't you invest in a good tv or a newspaper and catch up on the news of the last 30 years.

How come the Soviets could maintain order and, now that the iron curtain has fallen all the 'former Soviet republics' are at each other's throats?

Why, because when there's the consistent threat of the 'police' killing you, your family or your friends, you tend to stay in line...

He used his barbarian methods to stop anyone trying to tear the country apart. He was a face to go with the thought of Iraq for the people. Now that he's gone, nothing remains.
