The rest of the Civilized world does not support International Death Penalties.

This was a Mock Trial put in place by the US and the world knows it.

America is digging a deeper and deeper hole for itself.

I actually support the Death Penalty for American criminals within the US, but for one country to put in place a puppet Government and Court in another country to sentence another country's leader to death is very obscene.

Imagine if the Chinese came and invaded the US and put Bush on trial and selected Cindy Sheehan to be the judge. What do you guys think the result would be? Then they would call it an "American" trial. Yea, sure it was American, after they picked the one person who hates Bush more than anyone to be in charge of the "trial."

This was a faux trial and I'm ashamed that this country's population is so incredibly ignorant and can not see past all of these facades.

Geopolitics has always been barbaric. The only nations that can have any claim to being "civilized" are those that no longer engage in any real geopolitical ventures, such as modern-day Europe. When they were the predominant world power, they were the nastiest of nasties! Now that they are on the sidelines, they can sit back and make note of how naughty we are. Unfortunately, I think in order to be a "superpower," you need to be a little barbaric. The definition of a superpower is a nation that takes more than their fair share. Kinda makes it hard to be a good guy...

Americans are not Barbarians.
I can agree with most of what you say. I do not support the death penalty or the current US regime.
I am an American. However, this does not make me incredibly ignorant or blind.
I did not vote for the president in either election. I knew that his 'link' between the Taliban and Saddam was fake. WMD? Please. It was all a sham.
I am waiting for the next election so that Bush is out. I will vote for the best candidate available. I hope that the person we have next has integrity. But then do many world leaders?

Before you generalize 'all americans' realize that we are all individuals and the government does not truly represent us all.

I don't support the death penalty period, internationally, or domestically, but I do believe he was tried by the Iraqi's. The Iraqi PM had the option to reverse the sentence and didn't. With a country that is asking for our help in rebuilding their society, I'm sure they needed help with this process also. I think we were involved because Iraq didn't have the capabilities of taking on such a daunting task themselves. I believe he had a fair trial, I believe that every step of the way was done accordingly, but with America's help. I don't think that the Iraqi's would have been able to contain him in a prison, until he was tried. There are too many extremists that could have easily gotten him out. I don't think they had the balls to come to America and try to free him. I do think that anyone who condones the death penalties could be considered "barbarians". My husband actually is enjoying seeing the latest photo's and videos, which is disturbing to me, but whatever, it's done and over with.

If you are not aware of the situation, this was an Iraqi conviction and penalty.. the only intrusion of the US was to prevent the Iraqi's from hanging him in the traditional way.. that is to do so without a trap door.. they are hoisted up and literally hung out to dry. They die from asphyxiation.. Not a broken neck.

I am afraid to break the news to you. The whole world does not hold your opinion regarding the US involvement.in Iraq. If you would pay closer attention to the news of the day, you would see how wrong your really are.

You’re being mislead my friend. Americans are not Barbarians. How can you even say that? Keep in mind, the US did not hang Saddam. His own people did. The US would have made the guy rot in jail. Saddam got off easy.
Did you forget how Saddam was killing thousands of innocent people? Dropping chemical bombs on his own people? Did you forget about that?
Talk about Barbarians. Americans would never behead anyone! You my friend are brainwashed and mislead.

But I will say this. The US should start taking care of business here at home.

Americans are true liberators and friends of the suppressed and unfortunate, sadly almost to the point that they overlook problems in their own country with allowing too much illegal immigration. What a great country and friend to those who live in terror. What a great Democracy that helps other countries achieve what we have so selflessly and with ultimate sacrifices from our young men and women in the armed forces. What a GREAT Country!!!!

Dude: The death penalty was instituted by God at the beginning of the world. He said that if a man should shed another man's blood (murder), by man shall his blood be shed. This has been upheld by all empires of our earth through the ages. Nowadays there is a group of people who rather put killers in jails and thus waste our tax dollars because they believe in pacifying the world and not engaging in violence. These idiots forget that only greater violence subdues violence. They also ignore the right of the victim to live.
Get with the program. The most famous "pacifist" of them all, John Lennon, was shot by one of his most fervent fans.
Mr. M on "barbarians."
