Tuesday is a national day of mourning. All government offices including the post office will be closed. Wall Street will not be open. Offices in most states will be closed, although some states will have their governmental offices open, such as Minnesota. Schools - that's up to the individual school districts, just like city and county offices.

On Tuesday, January 2nd there will not be mail delivery, and the post offices will be closed.
