Do I install the graphics card and drivers, then disable the onboard card? Do i have to uninstall the old onboard cards drivers? What are the buttons to go into bios? Where do i go from bios? Should i install drivers from the CD that came with the graphics card? or do i download them from nvidia or the manufacturers site? By the way, i have a PNY geforce 7600 GS. This should be able to play battlefield 2142 and BF2 right?

Uninstall old drivers 1st.
You already sholud have onboard video disabled if you had a card unstalled already.
Install new card.
Install drivers from CD, then update driver from nvidia.com
7600 should run said game smooth.

Ok, first install the graphics card, then the drivers and software, you might have to reboot. Do not unhook your monitor from your old on board graphics card at this point. You can disable your old on board graphics card by clicking on Start, choose My Computer and RIGHT click on it, a menu will appear. Choose the last entry, Properties. Ok, now, click on Hardware, then Device Managers, a list off the hard ware including your graphics card will appear. Right click on the integrated old graphics card and choose Disable. Now simply shut down the computer, hook the monitor cable to the new graphics card. You might not want to uninstall the old graphics card drivers since they're disabled, and if the new fancy graphics card dies one day, you can revert back to the integrated on. I am not sure why you want to go into the BIOS, if you're thinking it has something to do with the graphics card set up, forget the BIOS, you don't have to. I am a old fart, and I have no idea what battlefield 2143 and BF2 is but I reckon your new card should handle it just fine. Maybe some "gamers" out there can give you tips and tricks to make the game play smoother by disabling your anti virus, firewall, adjusting your MaxMtu settings, etc. Me, I am still struggling with Solitaire and loosing. Best of luck and Happy New Years.

When you install the new video card, move your vga cable over from your monitor. The motherboard will automatically detect the new video card and will disable the onboard video 99% of the time.

Once the card is physically installed, you can turn the computer on and install the new drivers.

If you install a new card and switch the monitor cable over to it, most modern computers should detect it right away. Otherwise, you may need to check the BIOS settings on your computer to make sure that the computer can detect the new video card and that the old card is disabled.

look, heres what you do. all you need to do is instal your new video card, and when you turn your computer on, the windows xp is going to recognize your new hardware, and then an instal wizard is going to pop up. cancel the instal wizard, then insert your cd that came with the video card and follow directions, and then your done. you don't have to do anything else. the cd that came with your video card will take care of everything for you. but as soon as you instal your new video card, before you turn the computer on, make sure you switch the monitor cable from the original spot to your new video card.
