You can try the herb valerian & the mineral combination calcium/magnesium tablets. Both work as muscle relaxers, but in different ways. Be warned; valerian stinks to high heaven! Because they both relax, they are both also useful for insomnia.

ah no, migraines are the worst!!!!!!!! lie in a dark, quiet room. maybe she could take a bath? Nurofen helps a lot. I also found these capsules in the health store that are supposed to get you to sleep. they don't really work for me cos I have serious insomnia but I have to admit, I had a bad back the other night, took one of them and my muscles relaxed completely. quite surprising it is called valerian complex (high potency) by Natures Balance. also maybe she could use a hot water bottle for her neck and shoulders? might help soothe the pain. good luck

The quickest way to relieve the pain of a stiff neck is to take a washcloth and wet it then put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute or so depending on the microwave. The heat helps to ease the pain and just moving it around will help with the stiffness.

Take these Homeopathic remedies for relief and cure without any side effects or complications. ARNICA +RHUS TOX + HYPERICUM all three in 30 potency three times a day half hour before meals. to start with you can take them every half an hour till you start feeling relief after that just 3 doses a day will be sufficient till you are 100% cured.

You'll need a hot bath and good massage at the very least, if it becomes chronic pain so you can't move or sleep or this was the result of an injury you had better visit a chiropractor. Even if you were good at reflexology and all that, it won't help if you can't move your shoulders to reach where it hurts.

reflexology - is within your hands and feet. I think you mean trigger points or acu-pressure points and yeah that can help. Try getting a massage. Also try some ice for 6 hours then heat for 6 and alternate. See a doc within another few days if nothing seems to help.

If you have a heating neck pillow use that. If not, take a towel or a blanket that warms easily and put it in the dryer. Put it around your neck. Or just lay on a soft pillow and have a good nights rest. If all else fails see a chiropractor.

Magnesium is really good for any sort of muscle pain and cramping.
Hypericum is a traditional homeopathic remedy for nerve pain (NOTE: Hypericum should not be taken by those on antidepressants)
Try applying a heat rub to the area to provide symptomatic relief.
or have a dead sea salt bath, that will also loosen up the muscles.

Women seem to like to sleep on their stomachs. This is a terrible sleeping posture for your neck and if you do this it could be an explanation as to your symptoms. And I agree with the other poster to go seek good chiropractic care.
