All the old movies, the actors from them will be gone, and with the time passing they'll just get pushed farther and farther back in time?

We all get pushed farther and farther back in time...I still get a shock when I look in the mirror!
As for the old movies and actors, the good ones will never get "old" or be gone- I saw Rita Hayworth in "Gilda" yesterday, and she was still as young and beautiful as when the film was made in 1946...All we have to do is watch TMC or any of the other networks that show classic films. Thousands of hours of work have preserved the best of them, and they are available on VHS or DVD with all flaws removed.
Yes, it is always sad when someone we love dies, but these actors will never really die...they have influenced generations of actors and audiences and as long as one line is remembered, they still live.
It is we who have done nothing who will be forgotten.

It's the nature of time, sweetheart. The important thing is that nowadays, with film preservation as prominent as it is, we have the ability to save those actors' and craftsmen's contributions and enjoy them over and over again for centuries to come, a luxury that previous generations did not have.

I have to disagree with the tone of many people here. It's nice to think that all actors back then were into it for the art and all actors today are in it for the money, but that's pure nonsense. There were just as many hacks and also-rans back then, and there are PLENTY of brilliant, committed artists in the realm of acting nowadays. Just off the top of my head, I can think of Daniel Day Lewis, Edward Norton, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Strathairn, William H. Macy, Chloe Sevigny, Rosario Dawson, Philip Seymour Hoffman and many others who constantly challenge themselves and their audiences with unique personable character portrayals on film (and stage, but that's another topic).

Well it wouldn't be so bad if the actors of today actually gave a darn about their job. Most are terrible and are only in it for a paycheck. If they had the same passion as the older actors I think everything would be ok
