Hi, im 40 wks 5 days, and have been getting contractions since 7:00am this morning, they range from 18 minutes to 8 minutes apart, no show and no waters which i know may not happen till im in full blown labour, some are intense, others i know are there but they dont bother me as much. How long did this stage last for you? I know every woman is different, just wondering about other's experiences? Thank you to all in advance and have a safe and happy new year!

Hello!
Congrats! Sounds like the little one is on the way...

That stage lasted about 12 hours for me, before it became regular. Don't wait on the water breaking either, mine never did.

This lasted about a day and a half for me. The water never broke on its own,I just called my OB when the contractions got to 8 minutes apart constantly. Every woman is different though, but I think you are close. Good Luck, Congratulations and Happy New Year

Congratulations... the big moment is finally here. My first labor went a full 36 hours (but it's all worth it when you hold your baby!). With the second born I was told to walk as much as possible when my labor began. Walking speeds up the process (although it also increases the pain!). So, you can try walking - but I'd contact your doctor now because you've been in labor long enough. They may want you to come in now anyway... good luck (remember to breathe!)!

Once they start becoming regular and are about 5 minutes apart, I'd head to the hospital. Sometimes the water breaks and sometimes it doesn't. Hang in there. Not too much longer.

I have three children, and all of my labors I have had irregular contractions just like these you are explaining. I had to have an IV of pitosin, which is synthetic for oxytocin, pray you don't have pitosin! Your contractions are twice as hard! Sorry I am not trying to scare you......Good Luck

Sounds like you body is preparing. Water does not always break and you may have already lost your plug without knowing it.
