stayed out of the Middle East?

If Israel had never been artificially recreated in 1948 there would never have been any Muslim terrorists in the world & hence no 9/11, no war on terrror, and no Iraq war. Is all that worth uncondititional support of the US for Israel? I'd love to hear what you think about that?

If you think that the US's support of Israel is the only thing the
fanatical Islamic world has against it, you are sadly misguided.
Although admittedly Israel is part of the problem, our freedoms are hated by a large part of the world. Look at the primative way
women are treated in Muslim countries. Besides, there are tactical reasons to have an ally in the Mideast region. Saudi Arabia only wants us around when it benefits them.

Israel is not the big reason for our problems. We'd have a lot fewer problems there if we hadn't backed authoritarian governments for 30 years to get oil. One of those, by the way, was Saddam. There's a nice picture of Rumsfeld smiling with Saddam in the good old days when we gave him weapons to maintain his power.

Even now, if we moved to alternative energy and stopped importing oil, we'd have a lot more flexibility to do the right things.

Israel does take care of itself. US soldiers have never been sent to fight for Israel. We tried isolationism in the 20's 7 30's. It got us WW II. I can't speak for others, but I don't want to return to a policy that resulted in the most destructive war in all of human history.

I often wonder what the Middle East would be like if they had no oil. Think about it.

I suspect they would be a fourth world, poverty stricken, hell hole of suffering and ignorance.
Even with their enormous oil revenues, I bet you can't name anything they have ever done or contributed to make this world a better place.
