normally people go to party's and all but i think it's a waist of money, overcharged tickets, too crowded inside anyways, people steppin all over your new shoes and spilling drinks all over your new outfit and the drinks are over priced and watered down, nah, i am home alone and loving it

I'm 42 years young and a Christmas trip home to be with my family has put me in a state of depression beyond words. At my age, I know what to expect from my family, short of a day of bickering and under breath mumbling about whomever most recently left the room, NOTHING. It just made me sadder than I have ever been to finally come to terms with the fact that it's never going to change. I packed up my car between the dinner and desert courses and drove home on a rainy highway in tears. For the past 6 days, I haven't been able to shake the tears or the feelings of being alone and lonely. I have very few friends as I have only lived here for about a year and life here isn't going real well. I don't know if I'll even be awake at midnight, but I know I'll be home in my apartment with the three things I love the most, My cats. Our big plans are a shrimp dinner for 4. There's the big difference in me and the family, I truly am grateful for the little things in life, and I just don't fit in most people's world.
I'm gonna go look for a happier question now.
Happy Healthy New Year to All.

I think it is commendable that you are staying home for spiritual reasons. Celebrate that! Wish I could be here to chat with you, but I will be on my way back home to the states from Iraq! Have a great new year!

I'm working til 11pm, going to bed so I can go back to work at 7am. New years is no big deal to me anymore. Better to make double time and a half, then get home before the drunks hit the streets. Right? P.S. might be on again 2marrow night.

i'll be home alone. i dont want to be out in traffic or around a bunch of drunk people. i like to start the year off in a good place within myself so-to-speak. being w/friends would be nice but would distract from that. best to you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
