Do I have to get a ipod nano for my nike+ipod shoes to work can i have a video work with it?

i want to get the ipod+nike set but want a video ipod with it not just a nano

this is one place where apple might have really saved you a plethora of trouble. the short answer to your problem: no. it won't work with anything but a nano. the long answer: no- because the nano (and shuffle but i'll get to that later) are both flash drive music players. they don't have any moving parts inside of them, so can't in theory be severly damaged from minor falls and wear and tear. (inside of course) even if you could use the sport kit with the video ipod, you would not be wise to do so. the video uses a spinning hard drive. just like a computer. the advantage to this is that it can have a massive storage capacity. the down side to this is that ipod video's aren't going to get much thinner. at least not within the laws of physics, or as long as they are using hard drives. the worst part about their hard disk drive is that they are more likely to sustain damage in a fall, or through rigorous activity (example: running) for this reason, apple has made the sport kit only for nano. hopefully in the future, though, the shuffle itself will be a sport kit. that would be pretty cool.

if you try to use the sport kit with the video, it will plain out not let you. the ipod will say that there is an incompatible device plugged in. sorry for your trouble.... it looks like there isn't any easy or cheap way out of it.

It is currently only available for the iPod nano.

The 8GB Nano is about a similar fee because the 30GB video, because it truly is about a million/fifth the burden and lower than a million/4 the length of the 30GB unit. The technologies to make an 8GB unit this length is extra extreme priced. also, the 8GB has about 20 hours battery existence compared to eight hours with the video 30GB unit.
