This really depends upon which type of exam you're planning to take.
For a"Board"-type exam (i.e., the Bar exam, licensing exams, SAT's, (you get the picture), There are usually study guide books available. The organization which puts on the exam usually has old versions of the exams available, too. Get a hold of these exams, study them until you can find some major themes, write these themes down on flash cards, and study them all until you can eliminate themes based upon the fact that you've learned them (i.e., toss the cards, 'cuz you got it!).
For run-of-the-mill class exams (classes taken at school), Study the subject (from notes, handouts, and the text), and then MAKE UP YOU OWN EXAM BASED UPON WHAT YOU WOULD TEST THE CLASS, WERE YOU THE INSTRUCTOR. This is like having several "bootleg" copies of exams, because they're based upon what was actually covered in class.
Eat well, go for quick exercise sessions (not more than 40 minutes per day), and get some sleep (the combination of rigorous studying, light exercise, and a good meal will knock you out ;]).
Good luck!

Most of the people who have a problem with taking an exam get really frustrated early in the test. MY advice is to look thru the test and mark 5 or 6 easy questions. Those are the ones that you should begin with then you may move on from there whereever you feel comfortable. My students have always done better when they gain some confidence early. ALWAYS go prepared and get enough rest that you will not be tired. BUT the best move is to begin with confidence. This test will not kill you in any way, it may hurt a little. Ask GOD for assistance and go with HIS Strength. Have a good test!

1. always keep and look over your old tests. review ALL the information, even the stuff you have a good handle on. take the difficult parts and figure out the answers, then commit them to memory in whatever learning method works best for you.
2.i love flash cards. great for memorizing definitions, theories, pretty much anything!
3.dont cram on one night, spend at least a few nights reviewing.
4. try to simulate a testing environment. study in the library or somewhere similar to the classroom. even wear the same clothes or perfume.
before i took the ACT, i put a dab of Vicks under my nose. since i used that while studying and taking the test, it triggered memories and i did really really well.
good luck!

1) Study any old quizzes or tests that you may have taken over the subject.
2) Review all notes/chapters. (Make sure that you do take fairly good notes...if not, see if a friend will let you borrow his or hers)
3) Start studying a few days in advance.
4) Get a good night's sleep the day before.

One of the tricks that I found work is 2 days before the test read and reread the information that is going to be on the test. Dont think too hard though because you dont want to get yourself worked up. Also get sleep befpre the test and make sure you eat that morning if you are hungry you will not focus all of your attention on the details that you know. Good luck

I wish I could help you but I NEVER study. You see I have an IQ of 200 and I'm in the 99th+ percentile in my state so I don't study. But my guess would be get lots of rest and eat a good breakfast.
