I have worked for most of my life I stopped working after my 2nd child at my husbands request and I now have 3 kids and I do work in the home. The divorce is not my fault and a lawyer is $3000.00 but I want out. I feel like a prisoner in this.

It depends on which state you live in. Are you not working by choice, or do you stay at home and take care of the children? There are alot of factors that could enter into play here. Some states also have a petition that you can file that waives the filing fee if you have limited or no income. Look in your local phone book, call one that does a free initial consultation and go from there.

I have never had to go through a divorce thankfully....but i believe in some states you can get some of the filing done free with a fee waiver, if you qualify. Some of the paperwork and such. You'll have to go to the local courthouse and see about that. Good luck to you.

The person filing for the divorce usually has to pay for it unless
you can find a lawyer who will take the case with his fee coming
out of the settlement..

If you have a lawyer, your lawyer can ask the court to order that he pay for the cost of your lawyer and filing fees.

I would say yes...I was unemployed when I divorced and I had to hire an attorney...if it is non-contested I think you dont need an attorney but I would advise you to get one_

Can you say, get a job? Can you say MOOCH, MOOCH, MOOCH? Damn, next thing you will want is for them to have to scrub the cream stains off you after you diddle someone else.

Damn, just when I think I heard it all, here someone else goes and fires up yahoo.
