I think it's good to save money rather than on the flipside and spend money on useless things and go into a load of debt! But, at the same time, I think it's ok to portion out a little bit of the money you earned on things you enjoy as well as on charity (they say 10% is a generous, thoughtful number that won't plug a hole in your salary). If you have kids or are planning, I can especially understand your tendency to want to save, because you want to have enough $ for them to be secure in life- that's a great thing

You sound like one smart kid! The people who are telling you saving is bad probably don't have any money. You do. Who is better off. Although being "cheap" is negative being thrifty like you are is a great virtue. I consider a cheapo someone who won't part with a dollar to get something that would be of greater value than the money. Don't deny yourself what you want, but man saving is a good thing! Keep doing it, no matter what people say. Get used to people criticizing you. That's what people do when they're jealous! It's the ultimate compliment.

People today spend more time acquiring things instead of saving. Good for you for taking the right step. When you retire, you'll be living the good life, nice homes, travel, and a nice nest egg, while others will be waiting for the next Social Security check.

Hey, I am the same way. I am trying to change that though, I am cheap to the point I miss out on a lot of experiences because I am afraid to spend. Not saying to waste all your money just find a middle ground.

I don't think that's bad at all! I sure wish I could save like that.
