As long as your car is not made before 1980, you can use the VIN number(Vehicle identification number) that is located underneath your head printed on sticker or on top of your dashboard by the driver's side area( you can better see it if you're outside looking through your windshield). The vin number is alpha numeric and consist of 17 characters. The 10th character which is usually a number or a letter will tell you when it was made. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_identification_number. On the bottom of the website, there's a diagram that tells you what that 10th letter or digit represents, meaning the year it was made. Also, depending on what make your car is, this site will give you helpful sites that will give specifics for the make vin numbers. If not, you can order a carfax from www.carfax.com. If you don't know how to look up things like this, go to the dealership's service area or go to a mechanic. They can help. I took auto shop back then so I hope this helps.
