It's because those people are just ignorant. I am a very Americanized Chinese girl and some Chinese people don't accept me because I'm "too white" and certain white people don't accept me because well, I'm not white.

We are all mixed peoples... we live in a "melting pot" of a country called America where the immigrants have been coming from different countries for so many generations! We have had inter-marriages for years and years! It is a closed-minded and biased person who will be discriminatory against anyone who is not like them! The cultures in this country are not segregated, but so well mixed and inter-related... I would challenge most people to look into their family trees and find out how many times their "branches and roots" are of different cultures! I know mine are of English, Danish descent, and my husband's roots are of English, American Indian, German & French descent.. My oldest daughter married a wonderful young man from Mexico, they have a beautiful baby girl, and she is gorgeous! I'm sure you are just as beautiful as my precious granddaughter.... the only bias I have is that my children and grandchildren are the most beautiful in the entire world... but that is my humble opinion!
Don't let anyone make you feel discriminated against, you are an American citizen and have equal opportunity and rights... and you also have some things that others don't have! You have beautiful features and skin tone... you are so lucky! Best wishes!

Because all cultures, while beautiful in many ways, also have strict beliefs on what are the norms. There is also the concept of what it takes to be accepted. If you don't play inside the lines, so to speak, you are seen as deviating from your culture and thus both in a sense disown you. Pretty crazy! That's why I shy away from my nationality and culture b/c it's so judgmental. There's a lot good in knowing your heritage and culture, but many are so steeped in being pure bred that it's really conflicting with modernity.

The people who are the discriminators are the people who have not evolved. Don't hang with them. I find it sad that in a multicultural society there is so much racism and discrimination. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I study people and ask peoples inputs and this is what I get: because alot of mixed people have an "Im better than you" attitude.
Im black white and puerto rican but I dont think Im better than anyone just because I got the best of 3 worlds. And alot of it comes from jealousy. Ive learned to just deal with it.

I have an 8 year old daughter who is 25% black. You would not be able to tell by looking at her. To save her from having to deal with any race issues that might arise from her being mixed, I don't go around announcing that fact that she is mixed. I am sure that is probably racist on my part.

Because there are people of both cultures that unfortunately hate the other. So people of mixed race are put in this unique position of being hated by both.
