have you ever BEEN to Rome? The pope does not have a palace. in certainty, he lives in a touch sparse place of residing in the vatican... My house is greater and greater heavily provided than the place the pope lives. 2d, the catholic church is a bastion of SOCIETY. Destruction of the church buildings to sell artwork could be a grave offense, to no longer point out counter effective. the ecu church buildings entice hundreds of thousands of trip makers each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days which in turn generates sales, lots of it extremely is positioned back into close by and worldwide social courses. i'm guessing you have in no way had a class in economics the two, given which you're advocating destroying investments in want of short term liquid capitol. no longer the main suitable decision... 0.33, the celibacy self-discipline replaced into delivered out for many complicated societal reasons. with the aid of fact the monks did no longer own church sources back on the time you point out (or in the present day the two) it does no longer count regardless of if or no longer they have been married and had toddlers or no longer. Land you do no longer own does not get handed on on your loved ones. i think unbased wild theories and private bias are the atheist seize-words for the day

I was raised Catholic, I fought it from the first day of catechism. I asked too many questions that the nuns couldn't or wouldn't answer. I was a problem for them. I was forced to deal with it till I was old enough to not be under my parents thumbs. I don't practice any religion now. I do follow the ten commandments and I try to be the best person I can be. That's about it. I just can't adhere to Catholicism. I don't agree with a lot of it.

The Catholic Church doesn´t teach anything; it's an institution. Men do. And u may find Catholic Priests teaching differently on the same issues, so it's rather difficult to make generalizations.

I personally don't subscribe to big institutionalized religion. Religion for me takes raw spirituality and strangles it. I've had Catholic friends and I accept them as they are, they can believe what they want to, and none of them have tried to convert me. One time I tried to explain the spiritual value of trees to a Catholic friend of mine in a Japanese Garden and how gardens can be a type of "church"... she partially saw what I was getting it, but it took awhile!

They teach what they believe is true and Catholics believe, that's all that can be said. I am Orthodox and have respect for the Catholic church, simple as that.

Don't know enough to say on this topic, generally.
All I know is that Pope Benny was one of the most conservative bishops or cardinals when it came to writing about the Catholic stance on homosexuality, which is BAD news for may thousands of people. (One document he wrote pretty much stated that homosexuals shouldn't expect to be entitled to housing or jobs.)

I can tell you one thing I don't like about mass. You are told what to say, when to say it, you are told when to stand, when to sit and when to kneel. Everything is by rote.
