Probally because it only played at 8 theatres so far. However, showings per screen made it the number one movie last week. Which means, if it had shown on as many screens as the actual number one movie, it would've done TRIPLE! So, actually, it's doing GREAT! Just has to go into wide-release. :-)

Dreamgirls has not expanded nationwide yet. It only plays in select cities as of now. But it's doing well in the cities that it's playing in. When it expands nationwide, I'm guessing it's going to make a lot of money.

Because the movie sucked. Everybody is so tired of dancing and singing and Beyonce. There are better movies playing right now that are more worth your time and money.

It's incredible! But I think that way because:
a. It's based on an old-fashioned Broadway musical (but ALL of my friends want to see it! I just saw it today)
b. Maybe it's because they only opened it in select theatres for some reason... It's a mystery...

2 reasons: it's a musical (not everyone likes musicals); it's a pretty much all black cast, and like it or not, that will keep many people from wanting to see it.
I saw it...great movie. But I'm a musical lover
