For history you could do something about the civil rights movements of the 60 in the US.

There were 2 factions, those who followed Martin Luther King and advocated peaceful resistance and then the black panthers who advocated and more violent approach. Here is an article on a race riot started over the killing of a black boy by a white Irish police officer. The result was the destruction of the neighborhood. People went crazy. Another example is gang violence of today. There is violence and then retribution and nothing is ever accomplished. And it can all start by on gang member crossing anothers area. Or you could give Sadaam as an example. His death is not going to undo what he did, it is not going to stop the terrorist who are trying to get a foothold in Iraq. If anything it will make them more fervent.

Or you could do a poster on the fate of tyrannical dictators Hitler, Mussolini, Sadaam Hussain, Napolean. They all had a cause and all ruled and conquered by violence. All were defeated and lost everything.

If you don't understand the actual assignment, here's a paraphrase:

Create poster that shows that violence is not an effective/good/useful way to settle disagreements. In other words, violence does not solve society's problems.

You need examples from history (like the World War I example mentioned above) and current society (like the PlayStation example).

To present this information, you might want to use pictures pulled from magazines, or flow charts, showing the original disagreement, the violence people tried to use to solve it, and what the (unsuccessful) outcome was.

How about you do something from this christmas season. About the people that were killed because of the new ps3 that came out. It is useless to fight because nothing gets accomplished. As for history you could do maybe something on the war.

for the world today, research about sadam hussain. Research on the masacer caused by him.
