I am 25 weeks pregnant, I am not dilated or effaced and I am under medical care so please don't tell me to see a Dr. b/c I am also married to one! I have been spotting and contracting since T-giving which goes away after putting up feet and drinking water. I am just wondering if any WOMAN has heard of a discharge during pregnancy that was pinkish/brownish in color but not blood. I am seeing my O.B. every 2 wks. but I stop spotting right before I see him and then he says he sees no blood cells under the scope (!?) I am about ready to drive to his office and show him my pad the next time it happens, arrrgh help!!

spotting is PERFECTLY normal in some pregnancies. IF you OB is telling you something that you're getting tired of hearing, go get another prognosis. IF the brownish/pinkish spotting becomes heavier, you start to cramp not only in your abdomen but your back as well and you start clotting, look carefully at the clots and make sure that there is no white spots in it. Best thing to do right now though, if your spotting is light during movement, stay off of your feet as much as possible for a couple of weeks, (possibly longer if necessary) You could be stressing the baby out as well as yourself. And you don't want that :(( Also, if your husband is a doctor, he'll understand why you have to stay off your feet (heck, he's probably told you so before i did LOL) Best thing for you both right now though, relax as much as possible, not only that, if you're feeling uncomfortable now with the doctor you DO have, i'd recommend seeing a new one...this one just probably wants you in and out 5 mins within seeing you. That's the type of doctor NO ONE wants. (just wants your money more than he wants a patient) If you have any questions about pregnancies, babies etc....look at my portfolio and email me:) I've had 5 kids, 3 miscarriages......I'm chocked FULL of information hehe Good luck on your pregnancy........does sound like you'll be a PERFECT mother :) and God Bless you for being a patient wife to a doctor and God Bless the doctors for helping/saving SOOOO many unknown to them people :)

I think you should go show him the pad next time. Dr's are good at blowing you off sometimes when it comes to things like that. They think we're crazy. If I call the office the nurses blow me off so basicly I tell them I want to maek an appointment or come in that day if I worry and won't take no as an answer. If I was you right after it happenedI'd take the pad up there tell em I'm spotting pink and brown I wanna see the dr RIGHT NOW! Get psycotic on em. They'll do what you say.

I can't imagine what would be in your discharge besides blood to make it brown or pink. The number one cause of bloody discharge is a low lying placenta. It's just when your placenta is close to your cervix, it tends to push a tiny bit of tissue out and it can stimulate the cervix to contract. I don't think you're crazy, I also had a brownish color in my discharge (that's how I found out I had an incompetent cervix). If you're not dialating or effacing you're fine! And the uterus tends to contract when your body tenses to get and also when you're dehydrated. How lucky to live with a doc! Good luck... and have a happy new year!

hey I have THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM! The only difference is I am almost 12 weeks. They have done and US and i dont have a subchorionic hemmorage (tears in the uterus or placenta) and they dont know where its coming from. Youre doing good by drinking more water and keeping your feet up, you might need bedrest for the rest of your pregnancy, thats what they did for me. they are afraid to examine me incase I strt belleding more. So I would definately stress this to your doc and just keep timing your contractions. More than four in 1 hour get to an ER immediately!

Have them check for a cyst. The pressure from the growing baby could be causing it to leak. Most are on the outside of the womb and harmless. Also make sure they tested for any SIDs, just to be safe and cover all bases. If SID you need a C section.
Baby should be fine and healthy.
If he doesn't give you the assurances you need try another doctor or a free clinic.

Well take a test and I would also get a pap done and tested for STD's cause being with that many different people in that amount of time you are looking to catch something.........and if you are pregnant and have something you are putting your baby as risk! Maybe setup an appointment for DNA tests too dam girl I don't know why you would do that to yourself.....

Yes, I did spot like this.As long as your doctor is telling you the baby is fine you're okay. You may have a mild infection that is causing you to discharge. If your pains stop once you put your feet up, the baby may be riding very low. My baby stayed low through my entire pregnancy. You cound also have a urinary tract infection. It is very common in pregnant women because they urine so much.

hi,

the same thing happened to me my last pregnancy, he is four months old now. but, i was told by my ob that spotting is normal. as long as there is no heavy bleeding and no pain then i wouldn't worry too much.

don't stress out sweetie, take care of your self, drink a lot and i mean a lot of water. and have your self a healthy baby.

congratulations!!!

I had the same discharge almost my whole pregnancy and they never figured out what was causing it. If your doctor says everything looks fine, don't worry about it (the baby will know you are worrying).
