DON'T try to edge her into something she's not comfortable with. Even if she agrees, she will resent you for it. Trust me.

Assuming she's agreeable, have her pick the third person, so she'll be more comfortable, if she's not agreeable, then you'll lose her if you keep on about it. And make sure it's not close friends but close enough still that you can all discuss it beforehand and place down the ground rules (no kissing etc) so everyone's on the same page. This is tricky territory because it can be fine at the time, but jealousy often screws up any relationship with the third person, and can even break up the marriage. And sometimes the sight of her husband doing another girl gets burned into her brain and torments her for years after. I'd say if you have to convince her, she still loves you too much to want to share you. Respect her wishes.

You can ask her and try your best to convince her but thats about it
If she agrees, it is best if the wife always invites the other woman
and the husband never contacts the other woman outside the bedroom...
Never ever invite another couple or man into your bed..
If she agrees but can/will not handle the invitation, then you
must do it but you must not have any relationship what so ever
with the other woman outside the bedroom...

That is a very difficult topic. I would tread lightly there with your wife. Maybe feel out her view on the idea, ask her about any way out there fantasies that she may have. You also need to have a very trusting relationship to go in that area in a relationship. Good Luck.

Here is an idea. Don't push her. If she is up for it then good, but there are other ways to spice it up. Pushing a women to do something they do not want to do can push her away.
