I don't know about the banks but since Bush declared Tuesday a federal holiday for morning ford I know the post offices are closed Monday and Tuesday.

Yes - all 12 Federal Reserve Banks will be open and operational. The 'rule' is if the Federal Reserve is open - banks are open. And except for Express mail - the United States Post Office will not deliver on January 2nd.

Yes, but to correct a previous poster...they could have still been closed with the 3 day rule. Most banks are open on Saturdays.

Yes, January 2nd is Tuesday and not a national holiday.. even DMV and the post office are going to be open.

Yes they will be. They are only allowed to be closed 3 days in a row. So if they were closed on Jan 2ND that is four days and that against regulations.
