You will want to have 16 or 18 measures of a song ready to perform. You will also want to find a monologue or poem that fits a character in the musical that you wish to play. Make sure to warm up your vocal chords with some vocal exercises, but most of all...be in character and relax. Have fun with it!

Definitely try out. What would it hurt? Sing what you know best, but if you don't have sheet music to have anyone play for you while you sing, make sure it's a song that sounds good without background music too. Be confident.
I found a lot of people who got the parts to musicals in my high school were not always the best, but teacher's pets. This isn't always the case, but if you don't get a part...don't lose hope in life. It happens. Actually I didn't get a part in a musical so I decided to play in the pit orchestra instead. It was a lot of fun! We had all sorts of fun down there and got to be part of every song. The audience wouldn't see us and we didn't have to get in weird costumes. So if you get in, great, but if you don't then it's fine too. Just don't be nervous. :)

If your good at singing then sing a song. But if your nervous and can't sing read a poem. GoOd LuCk ♥

I love trying out for plays- i mean if i were you i would go straight to the top and audition for the lead. Stay calm, work the stage , and stay focus. Good Luck!

pick a song that goes with the part you are trying out for. relax and make it your own. you will be great!
