As soon as they can! And continue taking it as many times as you can! The more you take it, the better your scores will get! Also, if you aren't happy with your scores the first time, you can take an ACT class that will help you with the specific areas that you need it in! Good luck! I began taking it at 15! My school wouldn't allow us to take it any sooner!

just some side info --if you do really well on the pre-sat you can get scholarships to state schools I think

also --sats are better for certain regions (some schools don't even accept act scores)

They have what's called a PLAN -ACT - like a practice one that i believe they offer your freshman or soph. year of high school. Therefore i would try your junior year and then retake it your senior year if need be. good luck
