True, most teenagers who label themselves as "goth" don't listen, or maybe have never heard of Sisters of Mercy, Peter Murphy, Siouxsie & the Banshees, or Switchblade Symphony. But those are the real gothic bands, which those kids don't get. Most Hot Topic goths listen to HIM, My Chemical Romance, and the like, but those are all rock bands, not goth. Real adult goths do listen to non-gothic music, but they know and respect real gothic music.

What? I listen to Sisters. I listen to more recent stuff, like Cruxshadows and Lunascape, but Sisters Of Mercy are a permanent staple in my musical playlist. Almost all of the old postpunk/darkwave/gothic stuff is.

The Sisters of Mercy rock. You should listen to them and often. It's ok if you like Justin Timberlake, I won't tell. All the new "goth" bands sound more like pop to me. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I'm "Goth" and I like Sisters of Mercy. And just because some one is "gangsta" doesn't mean they can't like rock. It doesn't work that way. People are different. They like what they want. There shouldn't be labels for people based on the way they dress.

Goth is a stupid label. Different people have different tastes in music and can listen to whatever they want and dress however they like. So some "goths" may listen to Sisters of Mercy, who cares?!

Gothic is just a frame of mind, just because someone is gothic dose not mean they can not listen to other bands.
