why not go to community college for your first two years? You can get all your basic electives done at a very cheap price, and you also can test drive lots of different classes to see which one might interest you. Do that beats what you mentioned in your post.

I am in my third year of college and I have switched my major three times! I came to school wanting to be a pediatrician, found out the math requirements were too strenuous, then I changed to nursing. I decided that I just didn't have the interest, so I looked into psychology. I took an intro to mass communication class to fulfill an elective requirement and guess what my major is now? Mass comm! Most people change their majors! A lot of people graduate and reportedly do not even stay in the same field! Any college's website will give you a description of the majors and the minors offered. You should think of something you have a true interest in as well as something you are good at. Remember, you can always major in one thing and minor in another! College is about learning what you want to do...not knowing the day you walk on the campus. Many teachers/classes will open your eyes. If you would like to talk further, you can email me! I would be more than glad to help you or answer any question! Have a blessed day!

You don't have to know your major when you first start, but it is good to have an idea. Talk to your counselor, your family and friends and/or make a list of things that you enjoy doing and are good at. Visit your local library to familiarize yourself with different careers. In the first year you take general or core courses a mix of things. Do your research so you won't be in the situation that you described.

I don't know a website that could help you but maybe you could just take notice of what interests you like when you're out in the world and stuff and then go from there. . . a lot of people don't work in what they majored in in college. maybe talk to a career counselor?

Talk to your guidance counselor at school. They have aptitude tests that can help you narrow down your interests. If they don't have it there for you to take, they can put you in touch with someone who doe s have them. Also, talk to someone with your local community college, they offer lots of help with this type of thing! What are some of your interest and things you are good at!?

If all else fails- find a local school to get all your general credits outta the way. It'll save on money and if at the end of your gen. eds. you need to find another school- at least you'll have some idea by then.
