You did not mention divorce papers...In the seventies or later older people did it to avoid loosing social security checks but still have the companionship of the opposite sex (if they married they would loose the ss check). I do not think it is right...would a woman rather be someones mistress or their wife?

You will get different answers to this one, because it is really a morality question.
In my opinion, no its not wrong to live with someone and not be married as long as you are both adults and make that choice together.
But remember that some states still have "Common Law" statues on the books, that means even if you never go through the ceremony you can be considered married after a set amount of time living together. ( this can vary by state, in some states its as little as 6 months and others require you to live together for years before claiming common law
Be sure to check on your states laws regarding common law because if you meet the requirements and then split up, the other part can get everything that a normal spouse would be entitled to.

You didn't say if you meant well over the age of having babies or what.
Living together is a choice. You pay the consequences for your choices, not the people on yahoo answer,,, so do whatever you believe is ok for you.

No.It may be a smart thing to do.If things go smoothly for awhile and you feel like tying the knot go for it.As long as its working and everybody is OK and healthy its alright.
