the male platypus has spurs on the rear legs that contain nematocyts like the stingers of a jellyfish. that's how the toxin is releases into the offender.

I have to agree with the others, males do have spurs on their feet. I guess you could call that a stinger in loose terms. But I'm not sure how the poison is released from the spur.

only male platypus have stingers. on the inside of their rear legs. they use them for defending territory mainly during mating season.

Platypus have a sting at their feet not on their tail.It contains a powerful sort of poison that i dont want to be in contact with.
