i have the new ipod nano myself and its really easy to put mp3 files onto your ipod!!

when you open your itunes library (music) you have ontop your little 'now playing' feature and the play buttong and pause and next, etc. onto of that you have catogories; files, edit, controls, view, store, advanced, help.

click on files, then click on Import (above Export)
then you get one of those uploading boxes, Viola!

make sure to keep your mp3 files in the same folder or place because if you move them around to another folder it can not play anymore because it cant read the file!

so no need to buy itunes!

i hope it works & good luck!

iTunes is free, the music on the "iTunes Music Store" costs 99 cents song but you dont have to use that. Just download iTunes off www.itunes.com to add the songs you have in your WMP to iTunes, in iTunes click File, Add File To Library, Then Select Every Song You Want In. Hope this helps, Brodster

I think you are referring to .wma files.

Also, a fifth generation nano? It's is either a 1st or second generation nano or a fifth generation iPod.
This link should clear up the model type but it really does not matter.
