standard form s include both
Ax+bY=C General form
and
Y=mX+b slope-intercept form
and
Y-a =m(X-b) point-slope form

y= 2x-20
-2X +Y = -20
and
Y-(-8) =2(X-6)

all have their specific benefits depending on the needed use of the equation.

First: use distribution on the right side:

y + 8 = 2(x) - 2(6)
y + 8 = 2x - 12

Sec: subtract 8 from both sides:

y + 8 - 8 = 2x - 12 - 8
y = 2x - 20

Third: subtract 2x from both sides:

-2x + y = - 20

*Standard Form: Ax + By = C
*General Form: Ax + By - C = 0

in standard form you want Ax + By + C = 0, A, B, and C all real numbers. So to get it in standard form, simplify and rearrange. Like this...
subtract 2(x-6) from each side...
y + 8 -2(x-6) = 0 distribute out the -2
y + 8 - 2x + 12 = 0 combine like terms
y - 2x + 20 = 0 and rearrange
-2x + y + 20 = 0
