I have tried a new wiper motor. it still did not stop. It seems to delay sometimes but still keeps running. So I unplugged it temporarily till I find out what is the cause. Is it a relay? if so where is it located. It has a combination lever which controls the wiper, the blinkers, mister and cruise control. Serious answers only, Please.

I have a 98 also and the wipers did the same thing. I haven't fixed it yet but when its doing it I wiggled the connectors on the motor itself and it worked. I suspect the connection is at fault. Might try cleaning them first and make sure the motor is grounded.
This might be a place to start than if it don't fix it the above answers might led you to the problem . Good Luck!

Answers given by Besttech, Marina, and Robert are all good places to start looking. But it has always been my luck for it to wind up being the switch.
If it is the switch tape a piece of sting on the old one before you pull it out. If not you'll spend hours trying to get the new wires down the steering column.
