Get an antifreeze tester on the vehicle factors keep, like purely $ 5 or so. this is a small glass/plastic tube with an eye fixed dropper squeeze end, & some in yet differently colored plastic balls interior. you purely pinch the eyedropper end & launch & suck a number of your coolant up into the tube. distinctive the balls will waft interior the coolant, & some won't. there's a chart that converts which balls are floating to how chilly the antifreeze interior the coolant will look after your engine.

If you have green antifreeze change it every 2 to 3 or 40 to 50k miles, if you have pink, red, or orange antifreeze, found in most german, and GM cars you are safe for 5 years or 100,000 miles.

make and year would be great here. GM 96 and newer every 100-150k miles and or 5 years. 95 and older every 36k miles or 3 years. Ford and chrysler depending on years and makes are pretty much the same except they didnt start using long life coolant as early as GM.

I change mine every year. I believe that the chemical itself breaksdown over time.
