Fame is an accomplishment
not a product to be searched out and "purchased"
Work within your talent---take every opportunity to perform
do your absolute best with every performance-- and if it is meant to be-- it will be !!!

First off, you probably don't really want fame and the total lack of privacy it conveniently provides.

As far as becoming famous, it's not usually about knowing somebody. And being famous shouldn't be your goal, either. Instead, make it a side-effect of doing something you love doing.

The road to fame is usually something along the lines of this:
Have a talent. (Piano, drums, harmonica)
Get good at it.
Start booking small gigs. If you're classic rock, try local bars and clubs. It's little money $150 - $500 a gig, but it gets your name out there. Other types of music are good for other types of events.
When you start having so many gigs that it's getting difficult to work out the logistics of performing them, hire a manager and let him worry about the logistics.

When you are asked for demo tapes, provide them. (Hint, you may need to record one first and this is where a studio comes in handy. Pay the studio with the money you made previously.)

Eventually, if enough people like your music, a talent scout may ask you to record an album or two. The company they work for will pay for the studio time and pay you for your time. They'll also work out some sort of contract for it to be distributed.

If the album is good and sells well, more albums may be requested.

If the popularity is high enough, you may be asked to promote your album on a nationally run show.

This is when you start becoming a VIP. Generally, once you've either performed on a nationally or regionally shown program, you can consider yourself famous.

Other routes exist, but this is the most common for anything that isn't canned American Idol stuff.

One note of interest, you imply that you primarily play at church. I'd recommend spreading the demographic a bit wider as that audience is fairly small (30-60 people I'm guessing) and not that varied whereas if you play at a club, the audience may be larger if there's a party or smaller if not, but is much more varied.

It may look like a lot of people in the audience from the stage at your church, but imagine something a bit bigger, like a major sports stadium with seating for 50,000 that plays a one hit wonder that is never heard from again.

get your bud to film you in the act and then at then at the end hold up a card with your info in front of the camera and then put it on the Internet and spam up myspace, youtube, everywhere you can, but give the film a catchy name to attract the eye and hope someone important picks up on it and try your heart out for any gigs you can get in the real world in the meantime and every week re-post the vid or add more so it stays fresh on the lists or find another way and completely ignore my past 5-10 minutes of type

EXPOSE YOURSELF IN EVERYWAY POSSIBLE!!!
SMALL TOWNS DO HELP!!!

You and your family should just continue doing what you love doing. Don't try to be famous.
