You take Soriano or Santana.

I would take Vernon Wells. .300 Hitter you can count on for 30 hr and 100 rbi. Also a consistent gold glove winner in the out field with decent speed for stealing bases. Playing in toronto has not gotten him the attention he deserves, and he is still young and improving every year. If you compare his numbers to Sorianos over the last few years they are very similar and Wells is 2 years younger but better defensively

Johan Santana or Halliday. Next round take a flyer on Matsuzaka, the new Red Sox pitcher.

First off I would be stunned that Ryan Howard is not taken yet.

#3 is too early for a pitcher, even Santana.

Howard, Ortiz, Jeter, Vlad, Manny and co are better bets anyway.

Ryan Howard would be pretty close to my #1 pick.

It depends on the scoring system, really. Is it weighted toward pitching or hitting? Are strikeouts by hitters penalized? Or is an out an out? Personally, I'd be grinning my butt off if I had 3rd pick and Johann Santana and Ryan Howard were still there.

I'd say take Johan Santana because you are pretty much guaranteed 200k's 2.5 or less ERA and 19-20 wins.

Johan Santana. The guy is a phenomenal player, there are a lot more good hitters than pitchers too.
