look at the age your mother and any older sisters you may have started their periods for a general idea on how old you'll be. this is usually helpful. my mom was 10 and i was 11.

some women get PMS symptoms, like being moody, getting acne, wanting chocolate, being bloated, having swollen breasts, and getting cramps.

i didn't know i was having my period when i had my first period. it was brown and just so light, and i was expecting all this red stuff. i thought it was a bowel problem! my mom thought it was too it was that weird, so she gave me some stuff for my bowels. when it continued the next day, she told me i was having my period. i didn't really believe her, but she made me wear pads and after a few days it stopped. it happened again the next month, so i knew for sure what it was (hey, i was only 11, give me a break!).

for a long time i used a calendar to chart my periods, so i could tell when i was going to have one and be prepared. my periods have always been regular, but a lot of teens have irregular periods.

talk to your mom or another woman you trust.

Well my face starts breaking out. And I also have a killer headache that lasts an entire day the day before I start. I also start craving candy (chocolate to be specific).

Usually periods are within 28 days of each other (or something like that).

my boobs grow- lol:) seriously, they do! Unfortunately they shrink back after my periods over: ( And I get a little whiner. The other day I saw an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, where Raymond's wife was acting all hyterical because of her period, - it's the funniest thing- you must take it out on DVD if you haven't seen it!

You can't be totally certain but in the general area, just keep a calendar and mark your dates, and then average them in after like 3-6 months.

Can't you get the information about that from your parents? Didn't you have ed in school? Didn't they teach you about that kind of thing in the sixth grade? Its not exactly something to look forward to you know.

everyones different. Your boobs might get sore, cramps either happen before or after your period, or you start to get really cranky and pissed off. But carry panty liners they're THINNER and smaller than reg pads, where them when you THINK your gonna start.

For me personally, I can tell when I'm about to get it because I get light cramping a few days prior to it.
