Not unless they are terribly insecure with themselves. A mid life goof up is a sure sign of a man that lets his feelings control him and is rather immature and unsure of himself.

some doctors and psychologists thinks affects many men in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Some believe it has mainly psychological causes while others argue that it's related to hormonal changes. Other health professionals argue that there's no such condition, however, and that the symptoms often associated with mid-life crisis have other causes. Those doctors and psychologists who believe the mid-life crisis is a genuine condition have identified a wide range of symptoms. Frequently reported problems include: Irritability Loss of libido (sex drive) Erectile dysfunction (impotence) Fatigue Depression, charactised by low moods and (often apparently unaccountable) feelings of sadness and lethargy. At least one study has suggested that those undergoing mid-life difficulties may be distinguished from other men affected by depression by their sense of urgency. Such men are driven to keep on being active, sometimes even more active than they were before the crisis. Some men may also be affected by: Stiffness in the muscles and joints Night sweats Dry skin Hair loss Weight gain A loss of ability to recover quickly from injuries Several of these symptoms, occurring together, might understandably provoke a sense of crisis in a man.

Me and my husband were talking about this but he says he does not believe in middle life crisis he thinks people just say that to make up an excuse for some stupid behavior. I on the other hand think there is such a thing especially if the man got married at a young age. Men in there 40's usually think they are aging and they need to have some fun before it is to late. I think that it is wrong and think it is a poor excuse but I do think men go through middle life crisis.

My middle age crisis is being spent getting back into shape, working out, and trying to be a better father and husband. Is that bad?

depends upon what you mean by crisis.

but a lot of people (men and women) tend to
rethink their lives when they get a chance to...
for example when their children have grown or
they become stable in their careers. some folks
change careers, life partners, Some folks would
call it a crisis....and I guess it would be if it lead
to nothing good...others might call it an epiphony
when they finally have the luxury to do what they
really want.

Some do, I think when you (man) hits a certain age, they feel less manly and want to prove somthing to themselves and buy a new car or get a girlfriend on the side, it a macho thing. Yea, I'm a guy and I now a few guys who feel this way and its sort of a going down hill sort of thing and want to continue to prove they can still run with the big dogs.

Oh yes they do! They do not want to admit that they do, but believe me, they do! My husband of 22 years just up and walked out because he did not want to be married anymore, he then hooked up with a slutty dispatcher that he had gone to school with and they are now living together. This was a man who up until he reached his 40ties, had been the best husband anyone could ever hope to have. Worked hard, treated me like a queen, and never strayed. Its called male menopause.

i will never know what caused my husband to leave me for her, perhaps it was a mid life crisis, as he wasn't happy with his life and totally blamed it on me. or if it happened when he met the other woman. he suddenly bought a new truck, new clothing, and said he couldn't come back, because he had changed. begin doing drugs, totally not the same man i knew.
