I do a lot of rough work, my hands crack and dry out. The best thing I have found to heal and make them soft is Curel Ultra Healing. Wash hands with warm water and soap, dry well waite about 10 minutes the use this lotion. rub hands together until lotion is dry. Do this two to three times a day, if hands are really rough and cracked. You will be amazed at how fast it works.

You can get a salt scrub anywhere, try bath and body works, or your nearest drug store. I recommend the almond scent. What it does is rub and take away all of the rough and dry skin right away and leaves them soft..its a miracle worker, i swear. All you have to do is rub it in the area that needs softening really good in a circular motion, then let it sit there for like 1 minute. Rinse your hands to get off the excess salt with lukewarm water. Then dry them. It should feel soft by the second. Hope I could Help You!

Crabtree and Evelyn makes a hand scrub..makes your hands REALLY soft. An at-home alternative would be to mix coarse sugar with olive oil or baby oil and scrub the fronts and backs of your hands without water. Rinse after a minute..dont use soap to get the oil off..towel dry your hands..and then put on a thick hand creme. Using olive oil is great because it's actually good for your skin..and it's natural.

All I can say is...

-Water can "hurt" your hands.
-Put lotion on when you think its needed, and before bed. (you can have some gloves you put on for bed after putting on the lotion that will be the lotion on your hands. and it will let the skin take in the moisture because if they're dry thats what its lacking.)
- And theres paraffin. Its like wax that some salons will dip your hands in after doing a manicure or something. Its not cheap.

Any hand lotion, I agree with the gloves-slather on alot of lotion then put the gloves on over night (works with feet too).O.O pick something that smells good, or use St.Ives! Luvv that stuff! Just keep one of the tiny lotion bottles with you and when ever they start to feel dry dab a little on and then rub in.I got a set of mini ones that are all Chirstmas "flavours" and I have one every where[purse, back-pack,locker,desk drawer, on my dresser, ect)

I've read that if you soak your hands in warm water for 15 minutes it will absorb lotion, oils, or whatever other product you put on them lots better. I never have tried it on myself, because my hands haven't ever had problems, but my sister has had really rough skin on her hands, and this did really help her. Rub lots and lots of super-moisturizing lotion or anything into your hands after soaking in warm water. Also, make sure you have enough vitamin E in your diet; take a multivitamin!! It will really help your skin too.

There's a warm wax hand-softener thingy...The block of wax (like candle wax) melts in the comtainer and you dip your hand in it a few times (like, five), letting the wax cool a little between dips. After a minute or two, you peel the wax off and put it back in the container, to be sterilized and melted again. It doesn't hurt to peel the wax off, the only problem is that it takes, like, two hours for the wax to melt...I got mine for $20 at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

The best thing I ever tried was Skin So Soft oil by Avon. I haven't used it in years, but still think about how great it is!
