My wife is 6 months pregnant and has tapeworm. We are not sure what kind it is and sent samples to the lab. Unfortunately, all of the methods of parasite treatments we know are not advisable during pregnancy. Has anyone had positive experience, successes with either alternative or allopathic methods? What were they.

Thank you!

you can chew a tablet of 400 mg of albendazole. it's safe during pregnancy. regarding safety of drugs, they are classified according to level of risk they pose to the foetus, with no drug being completely safe. so albendazole is a low risk drug, and tapeworm being a high risk disease during pregnancy, you can see the risk/benefit ratio is clearly with the drug. good luck.
p.s. you can also take mebendazole 100 mg twice a day for 3 days, as an alternate. repeat stool test few days later.

That's something your wife should have discussed with her doctor before leaving the office. Has it been diagnosed as tapeworm? No matter what treatments people tell you about, they should be approved by her doctor FIRST!!

Oh my goodness, didn't the doctor give you a prescription that is safe? Or at least give you advice? I wouldn't take what anyone on here says over your doctor...and since you sent it in to the lab I assume you are seeing a Dr...

Stay away from the herbs, you don't know what in the hell you are taking with them. Stick with your doctors recommendations, if the meds are so toxic they may want your wife to just hang in there for the next 3 months. After the delivery they can then give the meds.

The only way I've ever heard about, and probably the most disgusting way is this. Honestly I have no idea if this harmful for a baby. Only attempt in desperation: Don't eat for at least 12 hours. Starve the tapeworm. At the end of this fast place a piece of raw meat on the middle near the back of the tongue. The worm will sense it and slither upwards to feed itself. Grab it as it attempts to eat and pull it all out without tearing. BLEGHHHCK! I feel bad for typing this but maybe one day it might be good information to know? at least?

There are several Traditional Chinese MEdicine herbal remedies which are highly effective for parasites, but I would STRONGLY adive you research it and discuss it with your doctor first.
