Depends on whether you mean shopping for food or dining out...
I also recommebd Seva in Ann Arbor.
In Royal Oak, recommend Inn Season; highly delicious and great ambiance.
Fabulous Indian, Middle Eastern, and sushi places all over the metro area and in Detroit-proper.
Shopping, try the Sprout House in Grosse Pointe Park, Eastern Market, and Whole Foods, as well as all farmer's markets when the season hits.

Ann Arbor Seva and Jerusalem Garden are great, but you said Detroit.

restaurant or grocerys? Seva is an all veg. restaraunt but its a lil bit out of town (15-20 min?), grocerys any grocery store excluding butchers ;)
