well, it is about the correct style for your body type. there are many brands that are of quality.
aeropostale does NOT sell quality. that is for sure. pacific sunwear does sell brands that are quality-- such as Roxy, etc. also, department stores such as Macy's will sell quality bathing suits.

There's a web site out there that'll allow you to "try on" suits, based on your body type. Unfortunately, I'm not able to recall it at the moment. However, I was able to find this info on the Lands End site which does sell some decent and "modest" suits. (sorry for any wonky formatting as I c&p below)
You want to find a suit that flatters and balances your figure. Match the shapes below to the description that best describes your body.
Inverted Triangle: Shoulders and/or bust are wider than hips.
Strategy: Draw eyes down, away from shoulders.
Design: This shape looks best if you add volume to the lower half of your body to balance or minimize a larger top. Look for suits with wide straps, patterns/prints that draw the eyes down, keyhole backs, skirts, endurance and high backs.
Star: Flatters all shapes.
Strategy: Do not draw attention to any one area.
Design: Encourages the eyes to take in the full suit. If the suit has flowers, for example, the eyes will move from flower to flower, never focusing on any one area. Or, look for simple solid silhouettes.
Rectangle: Balanced hip and shoulder width, no defined waist.
Strategy: Define a waistline, create curves.
Design: Details and features help create curves. Look for suits with shirring at the waist, princess seams, diagonal lines and prints or special detailing and patterns that define the waist.
Triangle: Hips wider than shoulders and/or bust.
Strategy: Draw eyes up, away from hips.
Design: Look for suits that slim your lower torso and draw attention to your upper torso with shapely necklines. For instance, surplice necklines, bust detailing, patterned tops with solid bottoms, lighter colors on tops, darker colors on bottoms, empire-style waists.

Depending on what you are looking for, Victoria's Secret is a great place to start. They carry sexy and stylish brands such as Juicy, Zimmermann, and others. Also, Shoshanna makes great and kitsy bathing suits that are favorites among many stars.
Good luck!

go down to your local department store kmart, target it doesn't matter but those have great opitons that will give you an idea of a sutiable shape type to try etc.
another tip is to get a (honest) friend's advice about it, remember they can see the whole of you easily in comparison.
