First of all I will not tell you to wait because I know the torture you are going through! And at 39 weeks your baby's lungs are fine! You are in labor from what you have said but a slow and torturous labor. You have to start walking alot, at night sit in a rocking chair and rock, semen does contain a hormone that can bring on labor so you might as well. I would avoid stairs if you can't see your feet that could be dangerous and you don't want to use Castor oil if you are already having loose stool, you need to stay hydrated for labor or else you will end up with an I.V. Same goes for spicy food, you don't want to vomit in labor and delivery. Hang in there and make sure your bags are packed.

Nothing is full proof but walking alot does help. If you cannot walk comfortably try eating spicy food. If you do watch out though because it can make for a messy delivery. Sex can work also but most certainly not ruff sex as others have said you need to be carefull. In the long run the baby will come out when it is ready. I walked around for two weeks at 4 cm with my first baby and am now on number 4.

It will happen-I know how you feel-the last 10 weeks seem the slowest and hardest. With my 1st pregnancy I tried everything to try to get the baby to come once I hit 37 weeks.I walked a ton,had hubby massage ankles, drank caffiene etc.My water finally broke at 38 weeks.
I am 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and once again when 37 weeks comes I think I will try those things again-not that they were what helped start labor-but it can't hurt.
It will happen soon!

All women are ready for baby to come at this point. I think its one of God's little jokes, those last agonizing weeks. Although I would advise as a medical professional to just hang tight, actual experience at work has proven that sex can speed it up a bit. Problem is you probably don't feel like that either!!
Well hope its not too long, and Good Luck!

Honestly, labor will come when it's time....i had to go DAYS after my due date just walking, (old wives tale) drinking castor oil (not too much) rough sex....almost anything i could think of and yet..nothing. Finally when it was time, i was taking my kids to school one morning and i had the ROUGHEST contractions walking them to their classes. Pregnancies, contractions, labor, babies....they're all a HUGE mystery that doctors still to this day cannot solve. When the time comes....believe me, you'll know. BH's they'll soon be gone you'll have them 'til it's REALLY time. My thing is if you are antisipating the arrival, relax. Because when that baby gets home, you're REALLY not gunna have time to do that LOL. My prayers are with you and your baby, and my family wishes yours the BEST of luck with him/her :)

ok this sounds really really insane and maybe a little gross, but what worked for me w/ my 1st one (and I was in the same position as you) was getting myself off while standing up. you feel the contractions of course, but with babys head down and the contractions pushing her down it helped me to dialate to a 4 within 2 hours. (dont do it over and over or you will hyper stimualte the uterus, instead try every 10-15 minutes). when you get to the point of climax gently squat down until the contraction is over then breathe in deep as you stand back up. (you might need help from hubby for that one) if you decide to try it and it works for you let me know!

Try walking, or something a little more physical say with the new daddy to be. Anything that stimulates helps! good luck.

I know your tired but it's probably best to wait. When your babies lungs are finished developing they will set off a horomone that will trigger labor.
If you don't want to wait then I would suggest walking alot. Other then that I don't know what else you could do.
