the human jaw is made of two bones the mandible and maxable. The mandible is the upper part, it does not move. The maxable is the lower portion. It has the ability to move in various directions due to it's agile design. It is connected firmly only near both ears. All the other places of the jaw are secured by cartilage and muscle, so it can move with ease.

Surgeons work on the 'upper jaw' so we must have one. Few dispute that fact that we have a lower jaw. Authors may trap their villains in the Jaws of Justice (even though only one court is involved?). We must have two jaws.

The jaw is either of the two opposable structures forming, or near the entrance to, the mouth.
There is the upper jaw, and the lower jaw.
