personally, I hate symantec so don't use Norton Antivirus if you can. If you have any money at all you should invest in a non-free antivirus solution such as Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0.
DO NOT REFORMAT AN REINSTALL WINDOWS!!! This is not an emergency so calm down a bit.
Go to www.geekstogo.com and repost this question in their malware forum. They are pretty helpful with that sort of stuff.

had the same problem. Ok, if you keep getting pop-ups saying to buy a program that will protect your computer, DON'T, that's identify theft. What I did was Re-Installing Windows on my PC that deletes everything in your computer and makes a new copy of windows in it. But I don't think you need to do that. Follow these steps. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Now pick a date before your computer started working probably. One the restoring is done, it will delete anything that was installed or added to the computer after that date that your chose. If this doesn't work, go to Microsoft.com; download the 90-day free trial One Care. Scan your computer. This program won't require you to pay any money or enter your credit card info. Till the 90 days is over. Remember Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware are like a doctor to the PC's, not having them up to date and active in your PC could cost you. If this doesn't work, then you have to re-install your windows.
WARNING: Downloading multiple softewares on your PC only to solve this issue could bring in more unwanted items.
I am a computer technical, if you need any other help, email me at jamed2catch@yahoo.com . I get so many junk mails, so please make your subject is in capital letters so i won't miss it.

Try a few different on-line virus scaners like computer associates or panda. If the trojan blocks or interferes, you may have to download a copy of antivirus on another PC, burn it to CD and bring it over to your infected PC and hope you can nail it that way. Try the battle in safe mode as well. Good luck! (reinstalling the OS is the last, and final thing to try if all else fails)

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
download firefox for free, Just have a try:

Try running through these steps. When it tells you to do a full system scan using symantec antivirus, simply use AVG instead.
