It is probably real labor, your body is just getting started. It can take awhile. Take a bath and try to relax if you can. I would wait to go to the hospital to till there are 5 min. apart, your water breaks, or they get to intense that you can't take it anymore.
Your contractions will get more regular also. I had this same thing happen with my last one for a week, it seemed to happen at night I would take a bath and about 3 am I would get to bed.
It will happen when the time is right.

I had contractions off and on for 3 days before I went into active labor. When the contractions are around 5 minutes apart and last for over a minute would be a good time to go in. You might not last that long though; when my contractions were 5 mins apart I had to have an epidural for the intense pain. 6 hours later my son was born.

Keep on walking, and if they tend to become irregular, try laying down on your side, if that doesn't work, lay the other way. When they begin to become regular again, start moving around. THe gravity will help you to dialate. If your water breaks, you need to go to the hospital, there they may still have you walk the halls till you have dialated enough. Yes, it happens to all of us. It is when they begin regular at 5 minutes apart, that you need to go back to the hospital. You don't have to wait 2 hours either, just a few contractions at 5 minutes apart. I went from 1 1/2 cm dilation to complete in less than 2 hours.

i was told to go into maternity when my contractions were 5-10 minutes apart, 40-60 seconds long, and like that for at least one hour. i'm almost 4 days overdue, so i wish it would happen already! good luck and congrats on the baby!

the doctor's right... you'll know when the contractions are intensifying... because you won't be able to concentrate on typing... you will be totally focused.
When you're ~5 minutes apart, or feel like you need pain management... head back to the hospital.
