I just bought the American Idol Extreme Music Creator, and it says that you can record your voice along with a track you made. What would you need to plug a mic. into your computer and how would you do this?

It's actually quite easy locate your sound card on the back of your computer and usually most of the time there is a little RED circle for plugging in the microphone. The green little circle is usually the speaker out port and then blue little circle is the line in port for stuff like Keyboards or anything you want to record from. Example I've used the Line In port for Keyboard, electronic drumset, and portable cassette player before, but that's besides the point just plug the computer microphone into the RED or Light RED circle. If you have two RED circle this may indicate you have 2 sound cards in which case you would use the RED circle on the bottom half of your computer not the RED circle that's on the motherboard.

If you have speakers on your computer than more than likely you have a mic port in the back too. It should be located right next to the speaker port in the back of you computer or perhaps in the front. If not you could always buy a new sound card that has one. Not expensive online not sure at the store. Try www.tigerdirect.com or www.pcclub.com if you need one.
