Hypocritical when you consider that Pinochet got off the hook.
You cannot let one scoundrel off the hook and hang another.
Americans disappeared in Chile under his reign of terror.
The attitude of western governments who create these Frankensteins Monsters like Saddam and Pinochet and Bin Laden
for the sake of political expediency and money is contemptible.
It is wrong to hang Saddam alone. The Russians have done it too.

Difficult. Probably right, because if he was kept in prison and the extremists won power in Iraq again then Sadam would end up back in power again, able to re-commit the same crimes he was originally convicted of, or worse. But by hanging him, the hatred that is already mounting against the west will be considerably worse, so I suppose we can expect to see terrorism plunge to a whole new level. I think really, that whatever happened to Sadam, there would always be someone that wouldn't be happy, so it was always going to be a no win situation.

I feel it was right...and it was the decision of the courts in his own country. However, timing probably wasn't the best, given the unstable situation in Iraq. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Americans somewhere have to suffer in retaliation for his hanging. There's no reasoning with the radicals who feel he is a hero..........I just wish we'd bring our guys home and let the Iraqis settle their own issues. Sadam may be gone, but I'm sure there are MANY just like him waiting to pick up where he left off........if they haven't already!

Right. He was treated quite well compared to how he had people tortured to death in prisons. He allowed his sons to take any girl off the sidewalk, force her to party with them and rape them. They even found films that the sons had made with their friends. His hanging was quick. Torture and rape is not.
The Iraqis had the death penalty in place long before the Allied invasion. Sadam himself practised it. The Iraqi authorities made the final decision.

Difficult one - the man was responsible for murdering so many people so in a sense its right. But hanging seems like a barbaric act.
Maybe it'll wake up other dictators and tyrants to what can happen to them.

I personally think it was the right thing to do, however, if you want an answer from the people who hung him, you're going to have to ask the Iraqi people.
