GBA Sims Pets "home cooked meal" help?

Question

I have checked other FAQ boards and walkthroughs and cannot figure out how to give the lady a "home cooked meal"...every time I cook a meal and bring it to her, once I click on her she asks where the food is and it disapears from my hand...help!!
