The Depo Provera shot puts more estogen into your body so there for if you get the shot and you already have enough estrogen then the shot adds more you will likely almost constntly have a period like I did. Same is true if you don't have enough estrogen and the shot doesn't add enough to counter act everything else in it you can stop bleeding. Also be careful--- I had depo and bleed for 6 months almost constantly, also right after I got off the shot my thyroid went haywire and started working too fast--- anyways I ened up having to have part of my thyroid destroid and now I have to take a thyroid replacement hormone for the rest of my life. That may not be the full reason for it but it was pretty weird how it all happened, within one month after getting off the shot. Now I am left with 40 extra pound s that hasn't gone awy in 7 years. I went from 125-165. I never had trouble with my weight untill after all this.

I agree, it is completely normal not to get a period on depo. It often keeps your uterus from building up much of a lining throughout the month, so you do not end up shedding it at your normal menstruation time. This has not been shown to have any harfmul effects on women's bodies, it is just the way the hormone injection tends to work and can be disturbing if you were not expecting it. Your healthcare provider should have informed you about this.
This is one of the most effective birth controls against pregnancy, but there are other side effects you should be aware of. You should not take depo for more than 2 years, it can cause your body to absorb nutrients, like calcium, from your bones, weakening them and leading to osteoporosis. Depression, weight gain, decreased sex drive, and menstrual irregularities (spotting all month or no period) are also common. It takes an average of one year, and possibly as long as 2.5 years for fertility to return once you stop getting the shot.
You might want to research other methods, such as IUDs or the pill.

Depo puts more progesterone in your body, not estrogen. You won't have a period for 3 months, but some women take longer to ovulate again after their ovaries have been suppressed for that long by the depo. It doesn't mean you can't get pregnant, though, so don't take chances and don't have unprotected sex, as you may start ovulating again without knowing it. If you don't have a period after another month, you may want to call the doc; or to ease your mind, call the doc office next week and ask for advice and reassurance.

You will most likely not have a period while on depo. The doctor should have told you that.
Please reconsider the depo shot.
TOO MANY women have been on this shot and have regretted it.

The depo shot is the worst thing people could take. After five years you need a bone density check because of how it deals with your bone health.

That is NOT abnormal. Some women don't have a period for months and months after taking the depo shot. It really interferes with your hormones. Again, you should be ok. That can be normal with the Depo.

Consider yourself lucky!! Some women bleed for a couple of weeks after the shot. Don't worry about it though, not all women have their periods while useing the depo shot. My best friend uses it and had the same problem. Her doctor told her she was fine, but if you are still worried, ask your doctor!

I was on depo for 7 years and lost my period completely which is very common. The same thing happened to my sister. It is recommended to be on it for 2-5 years sense it increases your chances of bone loss which results in osteoporosis. I just recently stopped because the doctor said i had been on it too long.

It is ok. It will come in time. It may take up to six months.. I would still use a secondary birth control.
Just relax. Nothing is wrong.
