I have a build-in sd reader, but it does not recognize the sd card.
I use the card for my canon camera. But when I put the card in the card reader (which already has photos on it), the computer will ask if I want to format it, but when I said yes, it comes back and said not recognize the card.

Its not the write protect tab, else I would not be able to take pictures. Also, click on my computer and choose format does not do anything, nothing pops up after choosing format.

Transfer the pictures using the USB cable, then format it.
If you dont care much for the pictures, go to "My Computer" (with card inserted) right click on said device, click format.

EDIT, pay no mind to the reply above by Carling.
