I am going out on New Year's Eve and have a cute little black dress that ties up around the neck. Is it okay to wear open toed shoes even though it is only like 50 degrees outside??

Yes. Look at Hollywood! They wear heeled sandals year round. I think open toe or sandals look dressier too. Fifty degrees is warm enough for your to survive to have a fashion moment! Best of luck to you!!

All really nice dressy and party shoes are open toe. Pumps & closed toe are for the office and maybe dinner - nice dress.
Where I am, if there was snow on the ground, I would probably wear boots in & switch to the shoes. No snow or wet stuff on ground - I wouldn't care if it was 30 degrees outside. I'd wear my shoes.

Yes! If the shoes look cute and match, why not? You may be inside quite a bit anyways, so you won't be too cold. You could always bring a shrug-type jacket along if you get chilly easily :)

it depends, is there like, 5 feet of snow or is just bitterly cold and snow less where you are
if it is snowy, I agree with the girl who said wear boots and bring the shoes
if it is not, and you can stand it and you will not be outside and risk frostbite, go for it...
I do not honestly know how cold 50 degrees is...I am from Canada and we work with a different temperature system...and I was absent the day they dealt with converting Fahrenheit to Celsius...seriously!

wear boots and carry the shoes in a bag, when you get to the party go in the bathroom and put on the shoes

what do they look like if cute proceed but be warned you will be cold but if its a halter dress u will be cold neways so why not?
